The movie "Clash of the Titans 2" is currently being filmed in Tenerife, and while the scary monsters in the film are hungrier than ever, the production company have chosen local restaurant Bahía to cater for their own needs.
Next to the idyllic village of Abades in Arico in the south of Tenerife, a large part of the desert has been designated as workshop and scenario for the science fiction movie. Every day accessories and costumes are being produced inside several huge tents, while scenes are being rehearsed outside. And only a few hundred meters away, the staff at Bahía Restaurant start the day preparing today's food.
"We were obviously lucky to have a big movie production landing on our doorstep," says owner of Bahía Restaurant Lili Armas, "but our close proximity is not the only reason why the producers of the movie turned to us when in need of catering. It is a service in which we specialize, and we currently cater daily for businesses as far away as Masca and Teide - sometimes for up to 300 people."
And while fans are waiting in agony for the release of the film, Ms.Armas and Bahía Restaurant will hope the project drags out. Asked if she expects an invitation to the premiere, the restaurant hostess has her doubts; "Unless they launch it on a Sunday morning or Monday afternoon, I will no be able to go. Weekends are almost fully booked until September."
